Gamma Rays

I think I can be different sometimes. Like Tillie. And I like it. I stand out, and I am going to be an amazing person when I grow up, and have a google doodle in my honor, because I am not afraid to stand out. My mom is much supportive, unlike Tillie's though. I don't connect to the play on many levels though. I mean, if I spent a lot of time soul searching, may be, but I don't like looking for connections that barely exist, so I'll leave it at that.

Romeo

QuantcastAt the beginning of the play, Romeo whines over Rosaline, proclaiming her the most amazing person ever and his soul mate. He seems immature, and slightly daft. Romeo is a great reader of love poetry, and the portrayal of his love for Rosaline suggests he is trying to re-create the feelings that he has read about. When he sees Juliet, he forgets all about his "soul mate". But Juliet is no mere replacement. Some say the love she shares with Romeo is far deeper, more authentic and unique than the clichéd puppy love Romeo felt for Rosaline. Romeo’s love matures over the course of the play from the shallow desire to be in love to a profound and intense passion. I think this is Juliet's doing. She brings out the best in him, and she seems attracted to him for some reason.
However, Romeo is way over-dramatic through the whole play. He risks everything for love. He kills for revenge. He's suicidal. If Romeo hadn't killed Tybalt, or waited even one day before killing himself after hearing the news of Juliet’s death, there might have been a happy ending. Then again, if he wasn't so emotional, may be he wouldn't have fallen so deeply in love in the first place.
Among his friends, especially while bantering with Mercutio, Romeo shows glimpses of his social persona. He is intelligent, quick-witted, fond of verbal jousting, loyal, and unafraid of danger.

Thorea II

I think Waldo is an example of irony, because of how much of a hypocrite he is.
I think Henry, Waldo, and Lydian are most important.
Henry very into trancsendentilism. No one really gets him, but I think that's because no one listens. He's the main character, and the plot centers around him.
Waldo is kind of the opposite of Henry. He's kind of a hypocrite, and is much to talkative and bothersome to get along with Henry.
Lydian doesn't see why Henry and Waldo don't get along. She's conflicted as she tries to choose between them, even though she doesn't have to..
Henry loses, because his taxes get payed and he stayed in jail.

Thoreau

In this play it mentions Huckleberries. I think these are a symbol that besides the fact that a peaceful man would be locked in jail, there are still worthwhile things in the world.

A Perfect Day for Bananafish

I think this story was kind of odd, but I could see the connections to Cather in the Rye. I think Seymour was the most like Holden, because the way he interacted with Sybil reminded me of Holden and Phoebe. Sybil reminds me of Phoebe because she seems smart and kind, but less argumentative, and Holden seems like Seymour because he talks the same way and he seemed to love Sybil. Muriel seemed most like Holden to me, probably because of the way she is complaining and doesn't always listen to people.

TCITR

I would probably do the same thing as Holden in some ways, avoid people who know him and try to find his thing, but I'd move to Washington state.
I think he fancies her, because he thinks about her, and she seems to like him and get him.

I think that people generally try to be good people, so no, I don't think people are trying to ruin things for me. People don't really ruin things for me, as far as I can think, but may be sometimes a system does, like missing a plane at an airport. Once my cat ate my poetry book cover for path, but otherwise, I can't think of anything.

Catcher in the Rye

1. I think to be unique is to be yourself and not care what other people think, to an extent. It doesn't have to be to stand way out from the rest of the crowd, it's just being slightly different, in your own way.

2. To keep individuality in an adult word doesn't have to be dressing like Lady Gaga everyday. It's to express your opinion in a polite way, and not letting other people trump your personality.

3. My cousin, Deliah, is a very cheerful, carefree, and always laughs. She's nice and she doesn't really care what other people think. This is a lot like Allies personality.
